Often in the world of communications, customers have many questions. Some customers are very familiar with equipment, but other are less so. We have created an FAQ or frequently asked questions page (you are on it now) that can help answer some questions that are asked more than the highly technical questions (if you have those call us) so take a look below as we'll try and give useful information that might help you with communications equipment.
Answer 1:
We can supply both licensed and license free wireless radios - and the choice of which wireless radio can be critical depending on the situation. For example licence free radios have channels that if there are nearby other licence free radios then those other radios can 'use the same channel' that you are using to communicate. You would hear the communications of others and they can hear your communications. That might be a problem for some. Of course with licenced two-way radios there are hundreds of channels and they can be protected from others listening by technical means. But do bear in mind that a licence costs about £70 every five years.
Benefits of licensed radios:
- Higher output so can communicate further
- Scrambled channel content for more private communications
- Sometimes better build quality of licensed handsets
- Far more channels available
- Many other benefits too.
If you don't need most of the above then a regular licence free (also called PMR446) will work fine.
Answer 2:
It depends on the transmitter chosen. For example a TX9561 transmitter can travel 1/2 mile in open air, and the TX07471 can go up to 2 miles in open air. Of course using these indoors reduces the distance because of the walls, but the TX9561 will easily cover a restaurant and the TX-7471 will go even further.
Paging systems range:
- 1/2 watt output can reach 1/2 mile in open air
- 2 watt output can reach up to 2 miles in open air
- It's all relative to the output wattage and the building

Indeed we could... but we won't because it's not actually in the interests of our customers for a number of reasons:
- No guarantee of correct approvals
- Difficult warranty
- No spares so scrap when failure occurs
- Lack of technical support
- Obscure accessories
Answer 5:
Warranty varies by brand as follows:
- LRS has 3 year warranty against manufacturing defects
- SOLT carries 2 years warranty from us directly
- CT products carry a 1 year warranty
- Swissphone is covered by manufacturer warranty
- Ask about other brands we sell.
